2017 AITEO Cup: Holders Booted Out Despite Tornadoes Win

first_imgDefending champions FC IfeanyiUbah have crashed out of this year’s AITEO Cup after they lost out to opponents Niger Tornadoes despite a 1-0 home win in their 2nd leg semifinal clash. With a 4-2 deficit from the first leg, the cup holders knew they had to score at least two unreplied goals to stand any chance of making a second successive final appearance. They however failed to get the goals needed as Godwin Obaje’s 85th minute goal from the spot proved to be a consolation for a 4-3 aggregate loss to the visitors.Niger Tornadoes await the winner of the other semifinal tie between 2015 winners Akwa United and Sunshine Stars in Uyo on Sunday with the latter leading 1-0 from their home leg.RelatedAITEO Cup Men’s Semis: Tornadoes, Sunshine Secure 1st Leg AdvantageSeptember 30, 2017In “Nigeria”AITEO Cup: Tornadoes Join Holders FC IfeanyiUbah, Sunshine In SemisSeptember 25, 2017In “Nigeria”2017 AITEO Cup Finalists ConfirmedOctober 8, 2017In “Nigeria”last_img read more
