Pottermore Warner Bros Team Up for New Wizarding World Site

first_img Pottermore and Warner Bros. over the weekend announced a joint partnership to unite J.K. Rowling’s fantasy worlds under one online roof. The new Wizarding World Digital team—to be established under an incoming managing director—will oversee the Pottermore platform and sister site WizardingWorld.com.“We are very pleased to announce that fans … will soon be able to get closer to Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts than ever before,” according to a statement published to the website.AdChoices广告It has long been the intention of Rowling’s agent Neil Blair, who established Pottermore in 2012 to build an online presence for the popular series, to bring the rights holders together.“This venture will widen and deepen what we have been able to do on Pottermore so far,” Blair told The Bookseller. “There’s no reason now why we won’t be able to do something because there’s a rights issue. The only limits will be our imaginations and what technology is available.”Pottermore’s quizzes, features, and news articles are expected to migrate to WizardingWorld.com on Wednesday. It is unclear whether the digital publisher will remain open, with continued access to e-books and Rowling’s exclusive writing. The transition will not result in any loss of jobs at Pottermore, nor affect the digital publishing arm, which remains on schedule.Subscribers can look for an owl email from Pottermore with more information.Announcements about new content and services will be made “in due course,” The Bookseller reported.“Lest we turn into Hagrid spilling secrets at the pub, we can’t say much more for now,” the Wizarding World site said. “But rest assured, you will be the first to know. So keep watching this space as our exciting digital journey continues. Magical things are coming your way.”More on Geek.com:New Harry Potter Lego Set Features Familiar Scenes, CharactersTake My Galleons: Vans Teases Harry Potter-Themed MerchRare First Edition ‘Harry Potter’ Book With Typos Sells for $90,000How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love ‘Harry Potter’ Again Toy Tuesday: The Best Animal ToysGrab Your Wand: ‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’ Launches June 21 Stay on targetlast_img
