Rep Webber issues statement on governors budget proposal

first_img09Feb Rep. Webber issues statement on governor’s budget proposal State Rep. Michael Webber, of Rochester Hills, made the following statement about Gov. Rick Snyder’s budget proposal:“I appreciate Gov. Snyder presenting a thoughtful budget that is focused on the future, and look forward to working with my colleagues in the Legislature to draft a responsible, balanced budget that is focused on both the present and the future.“The governor asks for increases in the school budget, including more money for high schools and higher education, which is important to providing a quality education to our children and young adults. He also puts a priority on skilled-trades education. We must continue to invest in our children’s futures so they can live and raise families in Michigan.“I also appreciate the fact that there are no fee increases in the proposal. We have worked hard to eliminate fees and needless regulations that stifle economic growth. We must continue to remove barriers that hinder job creators.“I also support the governor’s proposal to increase the state’s emergency fund so we have money available in the event of an unexpected contingency. I appreciate his economic plan that could completely pay down the state’s debt by 2038. It is a forward-looking budget, and I am eager to have it finished ahead of time so local governments and school districts can establish their budgets with certainty.”##### Categories: News,Webber Newslast_img
